Isaiah and I were so excited when Kamala + Brandon implied they wanted us to shoot their wedding last fall in Richmond, VA and thought they were joking, until they called us up and made it official. It is and was our very first destination booking and although the destination wasn’t the typical “cool” spot with palm trees, it was just perfect for us, because it meant we go to do what we loved in a place where we are loved, our second home.
We flew all night on a red-eye last Wednesday and met Kamala and Brandon Thursday for a full morning of wedding venue tours and “catch-up.” The more she talked the more excited I got listening. I knew they thought about every detail and really planned a beautiful wedding. Friday evening came and we met the families and bridal party and my energy rose- everyone was so beautiful and had the perfect amount of swag- I could only imagine what the next day was going to be like. I tossed and turned all night thinking about poses and locations and how badly I wanted to make sure we did a great job for Brandon + Kamala. I mean, they flew us all the way to the East coast-we had to knock it out of the park. I am happy to say that I think we did.
Kamala’s bridesmaids look so refreshing in mustard yellow dresses accented by pearls and Brandon’s groomsmen’s classic in their black tuxes. There were 20+ members in the bridal party- one of the biggest we have ever had! The wedding was beautiful, held at St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Southside Richmond, followed with a gorgeous reception at Sheraton South. I loved Kamala and Brandon’s centerpieces tall and short centerpieces with beautiful fresh lemons as the focus surrounded by bright greens.
The highlight of the night- the line dances, everyone young and old was on the dance floor as the DJ spun his hits- I have never seen so many people dancing at a wedding in my life! Made my heart happy.
Thank you so much Brandon + Kamala for the opportunity for us to share in your special day, Congratulations!!
