One thing that has been so fun about this world of photography is reconnecting with some young adults of my past. For the last 10 years leading up to this moment in my life, I was in youth development. I have worked with some of the biggest non profits in Tacoma serving young people in both after-school programming to alternative education programs. Both of my worlds have meant so much to me. Nyzhe is one of my kids from my “other” life.
I met Nyzhe when she was in 3rd or 4th grade while I was working at the Boys and Girls Clubs. I have vivid memories of her running through the double doors every day so I could scan her card to enter the world of play. I remember Nyzhe, even then being sweet as pie, volunteering often to help me as she learned to answer phones and file. This came full circle as Nyzhe spent her summer interning with LHP and helping to lighten our load this summer.
Nyzhe is such an amazing young woman and a very passionate athlete. A star basketball player at her school, I am so proud of the young woman she has become. Nyzhe is currently a member of our street team and represents us so well! We are so thankful for her.
