LaRae’s Sister Shoot

Uncategorized

A couple months ago, I offered a contest on Facebook to folks who were interested in doing a “Girlfriends” shoot.  I got the idea from another local photographer, here in Tacoma, Lindsay Brooke, and wanted the opportunity to showcase my own set of girlfriends.  There is nothing like a good set of girlfriends: who hold you accountable/love you/encourage you/embrace you. I have been blessed to have so many girlfriends I often struggle with who my best friends are because they are all so dynamic & incredible.

My friend LaRae contacted me & said she was really interested in doing a sister shoot–and although she didn’t win was wondering if I would be willing to shoot her and her sisters together just being.

This is HUGE for 3 reasons:

1.) LaRae is a incredible photographer! She & her husband Cory were one of the first husband/wife photog teams in Seattle & have been in the business since I was in like middle school.  They are featured in tons of magazines/tons of blogs & websites and have won an array of national awards.  Their attention to detail: one thing I love–was although the thing that scared me to death to photograph her.  I have been a huge fan of LaRae’s since her sister, Lynae introduced me to her work over a year ago.

2.) which leads me to my second point.  There are a list of photographers I admire and adore. I dream of working with them/being friends with them/learning from them.  When someone on your list asks you to shoot them—–PANIC.  Absolute dream come true and a testament to their faith in your work & LaRae is the biggest encourager to me & our business.

3.) Leslie/Lynae & LaRae are three of the busiest people I know–getting them together in the same place at the same time, with no kids & husbands was a feat Im sure.  I value their time and wanted to give them images that they could cherish and love.  At the shoot I learned that it had been 8 years since they had officially been photographed together/so trusting me with this was, well…. brought me to a bit of tears.

Needless to say, LaRae is dear to me and means so very much to me and in this short friendship has proven herself invaluable, as are her sisters who are leaders in my church and amazing Christian woman.  To spend the day laughing/hanging and getting to know them better was more of the reward than shooting.

Shout out to Rampart Antiques located at 712 Broadway in Tacoma, WA for letting us pose pose pose with all of their amazing antiques and for allowing us to use some of their AWESOME finds in our footage!

Here are a few sample images from my fun afternoon shooting:
