I met Artise & Clarise (twins) when I was 14-years old and a freshman at Lincoln High School.  We were all in choir and I was instantly drawn to Clarise.  We both went to different middle schools and had come into high school with what was suppose to be our permanent group of friends; but […]

So… there is a photographer who I follow and who I get the joy of calling my mentor; Kacey Pearson, and when I am reading her blog–she often refers to her clients as “delicious.”  This is a word used to describe people that I never quite understood. I mean, of course I think my husband is delicious, […]

This weekend I had a chance to hang with some really amazing women, all who are incredibly talented in their own rite.  These ladies are painters–and this weekend they welcomed me into their world!  There is nothing like getting together to document someone else’s form of expression through your own. These women were the sweetest, […]

If so, where are the bowling balls??! Thanksgiving 2009: Isaiah had the opportunity to hang with a couple of guys from church yesterday morning, and when I say a couple, I really mean about 40, to play a bit of tackle football and as the good wife that I am, I tagged along to chronicle […]

If I had all the time in the world to talk about what an incredible blessing and life changer this man has been for me, there still wouldn’t be enough time.  Isaiah (in the natural world) is my hero.  He is the most genuine, easy-going, humorous, patient, caring, loving, HANDSOME man in my world.  I […]

Do you ever just get annoyed at work??! Tired, maloose (sp?), fed-up, bored??!  I did, about two weeks ago.  I was staring out the window thinking of all the reasons why I wanted to be a photographer, but doing very little to actually get there.  I had just starting carrying my camera everywhere I go (like […]

Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! is all I can say when referring to the Estes family. So full of energy, so fun. I met Judy nearly 4 years ago. We work together and she is one of the realest, funniest, wisest, most helpful people I know. We have spent many an hour working on some […]

My uber fabolous and beautiful 17-year old cousin who is an aspiring model, enthusiastic basketball player and a novice at soccer. I have known Sarah her whole life, when she use to use the potty in my aunt’s VW tri-colored van while we garage-saled around the city of Tacoma. Sarah is such a joy! She […]

I was so excited when Isabel told me she wanted pictures and more than enthusiastic to photograph this beautiful family.  The Boyds were so much fun!  Spending a few hours together I could tell how much Jason and Isabel loved their kids and how lucky Jabez and Tierrah were to have them for parents.  The […]

I had the opportunity to do my first shoot with the Samuels family.  What an incredible, sweet, God-fearing clan.  I have know Shavonne for a few years!  We worked together and hit it off instantly because of both of our love for the awesome God we share and serve.  When I first decided to get […]

What happens when the thing you never thought would happen does? What happens when you unexpectedly get sick? What happens when someone you love falls ill or even worse dies? What happens when a natural disaster hits and destroys everything you've worked so hard to build? What happens when you become ill or paralyzed and are unable to run your business? What happens when you find yourself in a global pandemic and you're unable to work for months at a time? What are you going to do?

When we first started shooting, we couldn't afford many of the opportunities and workshops that were available for newbie photographers to learn and grow, so we really utilized the free communities online and locally to building relationships and to learn the trade. It was those years that shaped who we are as people in this industry and have helped us to value the journey.
