Had so much hanging and shooting around with Ramani on the last day of 2010.  It was sooooo cold that day but the light was so gorgeous! Ramani came ready geared up, mom + dad on both sides to keep him excited and laughing + totally aloof of the actual cold.  I loved having Ramani’s […]

When I reflect on these pictures taken nearly a month ago on a really cold + wet day here in Tacoma at Pt. Defiance, all I can do is smile.  This family does it to me.  They make me happy.  They make me smile + they make me think of joy.  As I worked through […]

This family makes me smile.  They love each other and love God.  There personalities are rich and they care for each other deeply. Isaiah + I saw the Frasier’s at church one Sunday.  We had been trying to plan a session and had scheduled and re-scheduled a couple of times until Keith, the man of […]

I started this post with BACK UP, because this is something that every senior photographer says over and over and for one reason or another I have made excuses for reasons why I haven’t: not enough time, not enough money, etc, etc. Last week while in Utah… I was looking to post this blog, about […]

Its always so fun to come across young people that I have worked with over the course of my short career in youth services.  I have been lucky enough to be a part of three really unique non-profits and serve and work with some wonderful young people over the years. One particular I met at […]

Isaiah had the opportunity last month to join April Greer on a job down to Los Angeles, CA to record a promo video for April as she shot for Towel Dry. Just had to brag a little, like a good little wife would. You can check out April’s work here: aprilgreer.com or aprilgreerblog.com You can […]

I keep saying that my friend Tamika is carrying twins + although the doctor says there is only one little girl in there, I still stand behind my previous statement. Tamika wanted to have maternity photos done + not that I claim to be the best at it, or even good at all–I was so […]

Our beautiful friend’s Seth + Haley are having a baby.  A girl.  or maybe a boy.  I’m not really sure, but I am really excited for them + they are really excited for her, or him or twins?  We got together + they rocked their first photo shoot/maternity session + were so amazingly photogenic + […]

Like Kristina, the Ndegwa have been incredibly encouraging + great new clients + friends.  We met them in early December for their first ever Christmas pictures in Wright Park in downtown Tacoma.  Much like the shoot before, we were easily deceived by what we thought translated into warmth by the sun making its rare appearance. […]

I know, I know.  I love my clients. You hear me talk about how amazing every single one of my clients is + I absolutely mean it.  They are kind + thoughtful + encouraging and care about me + Isaiah as people, not just as their photographers.  The next couple of posts are long overdue […]

I love this girl so much! We have grown together so much this year + at this point she’s family.  I am so grateful for her support, and even though she’s 10 years younger than Ike + I, this little girl encourages like no other. Destinee has been a huge part of getting us to […]

It was the end of October, a wedding I had big dreams for as I envisioned sunset on Lake Washington and all of the golden light and sun flare that I had practiced to prepare for this wedding, but on Saturday October 24th, my indian summer wedding quickly turned from dreams of golden haze to […]

What happens when the thing you never thought would happen does? What happens when you unexpectedly get sick? What happens when someone you love falls ill or even worse dies? What happens when a natural disaster hits and destroys everything you've worked so hard to build? What happens when you become ill or paralyzed and are unable to run your business? What happens when you find yourself in a global pandemic and you're unable to work for months at a time? What are you going to do?

When we first started shooting, we couldn't afford many of the opportunities and workshops that were available for newbie photographers to learn and grow, so we really utilized the free communities online and locally to building relationships and to learn the trade. It was those years that shaped who we are as people in this industry and have helped us to value the journey.
